01The molecule

The smallest moleculethere is.

Molecular hydrogen, written H₂, is simply two hydrogen atoms bonded together. It’s the smallest and lightest molecule in the universe: a gas with no colour, no smell and no taste.

Hydrogen water is ordinary water with extra H₂ dissolved in it. It looks and tastes like plain water. The difference is what’s dissolved in it.

It’s not the same as the hydrogen already locked inside water (H₂O, where it’s bonded to oxygen), and it’s not alkaline water. Researchers point to the dissolved H₂ itself as the ingredient that matters.

02Into your water

Two ways to get itinto your glass.

Hydrogen gas has to be made fresh and dissolved into the water. There are two practical ways to do that at home.

A real OG Hydro tablet

Tablets

A reaction in the glass

Hydrogen tablets usually work with magnesium: drop one in water and the magnesium reacts with the water and the tablet’s food acids, releasing hydrogen gas that dissolves as it fizzes. Each OG Hydro tablet is made to generate 8 ppm of molecular hydrogen.

  1. Drop
  2. Fizz ~1 min
  3. Drink within ~8 min
The OG Hydro Bottle

Bottle

Electrolysis on demand

A small electric current splits a little of the water: hydrogen forms at one electrode, oxygen at the other. In the OG Hydro Bottle a DuPont N117 membrane keeps the two sides apart, and each brew reaches up to 5 ppm in the sealed chamber.

  1. Fill
  2. Press once
  3. Drink it fresh
03The numbers

The numbers,decoded.

  • ppm

    1 ppm

= 1 mg of H₂ per litre

Parts per million is how much hydrogen is dissolved in the water. It’s the number to look for on any hydrogen product, and it drops the longer the water sits.

  • ORP

    −500 mV

    Oxidation-reduction potential

A quick reading of whether water tends to give or take electrons. Negative means reducing, which is what dissolved hydrogen does. A handy sign hydrogen is there, not a measure of any health effect.

  • Per serving

    8 vs 5

ppm per tablet · per brew (peak)

Each tablet is made to generate 8 ppm. The bottle reaches up to 5 ppm, a peak under pressure in the sealed chamber. Either way, drinking it fresh is what keeps the most in your glass.

04Why fresh matters

Hydrogen doesn’t wait.Drink it fresh.

Hydrogen is so small it slowly escapes through the water’s surface, and even through many plastics. Japan’s consumer agency measured how fast in 2016:

That’s why we say drink a tablet within about 8 minutes, and drink the bottle’s water soon after it brews.

How long hydrogen lasts

Hydrogen left in the water

  • Fresh, just made100%
  • Poured into a cup, after 1 hourabout 50–60% left
  • Opened + re-capped, after 5 hoursabout 30–60% left
  • Opened + re-capped, after 1 dayabout 10% left
